the Cession

The two chief
Sources
of
the mischief were in
one from the Culvert passing under that Road West of Inland Lot you becoming blocked up, the other from the mouth of
the drain on Inland Lot box being
blocked
up.
In the
former case the water rushed down Castle Road
flooding the small drain coming
from Lot 577
and
tearing up the
road, passing North of Inland Lot 576 it tore up several tons
of earth just below Mr Fiechers stables bringing the buildings down, and
the Bank
bursting
over
on
to the
Bonham Road tore up the ground
East of N.2 Reservoir. The retaining
wall at the East Reservoir
corner
was carried
away
and a
heavy body of water was
poured over the top
of
the Reservoir all the
afternoon of the 6th Instant. Had the rain continued much
longer
I believe the Reservoir would have
been in some
danger from the
rush of
water
scouring
out the
foundations at the North East corner
As a measure of precaution I let out all the water on the
morning
